Warrior I Pose
Virabhadrasana I
Learn the basics of this foundational yoga pose, Virabhadrasana I.
Virabhadra’s Pose is also known as the Warrior Pose (there are three variation of Warrior, of which this is customarily numbered I). It may seem strange to name a yoga pose after a warrior; after all, aren’t yogis known for their non-violent ways? But remember that one of the most revered of all the yoga texts, the Bhagavad-Gita, is the dialog between two famous and feared warriors, Krishna and Arjuna, set on a battlefield between two great armies spoiling for a fight.

I have been impacted by Warrior 1. As the warrior is at half stance as though he can’t stand on his own two feet. His hands are reaching up as high to the clouds as possible. It looks like he is reaching for help.
I can really relate to the warrior. I my self am a warrior. My life went on a down hill spiral. I was going no where I was headed to prison for a very long time. I have both a mental health and a substance disorder. I had some barriers to face. Like a warrior I started to work my way out of the whole I was in. In went through treatment for substance and substance abuse.
As I came out of the hole, I was working towards standing up. It was a process and took time. I did a lot of work and started to build my support group. I began to stand at a half stance as the Warrior one. I had found faith in a spiritual connection. I reached up to the sky as high as I could get them seeking positive energy.
I reached a point where I had not only come out of a hole. But I begin to stand up as I fought against the odds. I began to stand up and face my demons. I am a warrior. I am strong having found positive powerful powers. I will be able to stand on my own soon.
